Naida's brother Haji decides to re-do Naida's ritual and Kaitlyn, Haji, Brett, John, and Naida's boyfriend Scott travel into her mind. Once there Haji discovers that Shyan is one of Kaitlyn's friends. Kaitlyn also begins to fear her friend John for reasons she cannot explain. Diary entry from Carly is inserted into the book about this time that shows that she was also afraid of one of the people around her, a boy named Brett that had a crush on Carly, unaware that the personality he had met was Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn also tries to discover the Shyan's identity via a charm supplied by Haji. She had suspected Brett after reading a diary entry where he tried to force himself on Carly, but when his dead body is found her suspicions turn to John.

That lack of connective tissue is a detriment, and it results in Deadhouse Dark lacking the cohesiveness of other horror anthologies. How should these stories be considered and compared, or taken in as a whole? Deadhouse Dark avoids those questions, and the technical experimentation of “Dashcam” or the nostalgic feel of “A Tangled Web We Weave” don’t make up for the lack of a greater congruence. There are intermittent terrors here, particularly the grimy exploration of mortality’s limits in “My Empire of Dirt,” but otherwise, Deadhouse Dark fails to hang together. But civil liberties – for women, sexual minorities and other groups – remain constrained in the conservative society.

No, probably just best we all pack it in and lie down on the ground with bags over our heads. If anything, Dead House proves life is short and pointless and when we die, some of us will likely face the indignity of being an experiment in someone’s palatial basement. On paper, the film’s concept isn’t terrible; it’s a home-invasion thriller with a zombie-horror twist, with antagonists both living and dead threatening the lives of its (relatively) “good” characters. Once escaped, Naida hides Kaitlyn in the school basement and reveals Kaitlyn's location - and the secret of the dual souls - to their friends, who are surprised and skeptical but supportive. As Kaitlyn hides she continues to experience more terrifying supernatural phenomena, prompting her and Naida to travel to London to see her brother Haji, a powerful dark magician that gives them some information about their situation. Naida believes that Kaitlyn has been possessed by an evil spirit and ultimately decides to hold a ritual to travel into her mind, into the dead house itself.

Together, their ghosts solve supernatural mysteries that no one else can, but not without the help of psychic Crystal and her neighbor Niko. People who don’t work with the dead for a living can’t help feeling uneasy in these spaces. But those feelings of unease in a morgue have less to do with the presence of the dead and more to do with the low temperature and pre-conditioning. Hobbes, never a particularly cheerful guy, strung those adjectives together to describe life during wartime. Little did he know, though, that one day, they’d also serve as a perfectly accurate three-word review for the 21st-century horror film Dead House. Thieves face home invasion, discover basement lab experiments, and must escape before infecting mutated psychopaths with a new virus.
